Local organization donates $14,500 to Make-A-Wish
100+Men Who Care meets quarterly and plans to donate to four different causes each year
CEDAR RAPIDS — Some 180 younger men from the metro area and Linn County have created a charitable organization called 100+Men Who Care.
The group’s central focus is to meet quarterly and, as part of the gathering, to each donate $100 to a cause.
On Monday, the group presented its first check, a $14,500, to Make-A-Wish.
“Our core mission is to make an immediate impact on our community and change lives,” said David Sorg, president of 100+Men Who Care.
Brent Oleson, a board member, said the group’s effort will help four different causes or charities each year.
“This shows the power of local people banding together to better our community in a fun and positive way,” Oleson said.
Thank you note from Make-A-Wish
As Chair of the Cedar Rapids Chapter of Make-A-Wish, I just wanted to personally again “thank you” for 100 + Men Who Care to choose Make-A-Wish Iowa to be the first recipient of your group. I am just thrilled beyond belief. I’ve been involved with Make-A-Wish for 5 years now and have experienced first-hand knowledge of what it means to the WISH kids and families to provide these WISHES for them. It really does make a difference in their lives. I’ve been touched by many of their stories. I can’t thank you enough and just want to make sure you know how appreciative we are of this and most importantly, how much it will be appreciated by the WISH kids and their families. By choosing to support Make-A-Wish, you truly are making a difference in the lives of the children and their families! Thank you again, from the bottom of my heart.
